WHY DO I FEEL SO TIRED ALL THE TIME?

Do you often ask yourself, "Why am I so tired all the time?" If so, this post may offer some answers.

REASONS FOR TIREDNESS

While there are many reasons for tiredness, including a lack of sleep, poor diet, a sedentary lifestyle, and stress. But as a gynaecologist, we are concerned about tiredness that may possibly be related to a women's health issue.

TIREDNESS IMPACT ON YOUR LIFE

According to research 15% of women regularly feel very tired or exhausted.

Tiredness can cause an array of problems. For example, around 4% of adult drivers report falling asleep at the wheel each month. This results in many deaths each year.

POSSIBLE UNDERLYING MEDICAL CONDITIONS

Everyone feels tired at some point in their lives, but if we rule out: lack of sleep, poor diet, sedentary lifestyle, and high stress, we are left with possible medical conditions.

Three common conditions related to women's health are anaemia, urinary tract infections and pregnancy.

ANAEMIA CAN CAUSE TIREDNESS

Anaemia can make you feel tired and can be caused by conditions such as Menorrhagia and other menstruation irregularities causing very heavy bleeding or Fibroids that can cause bleeding.

URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS CAN CAUSE TIREDNESS

Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) can not only cause pain and urgency, but when untreated, the stress and chronic pain can bring a sensation of tiredness. In most cases urinary tract infections can be treated quickly, sometime recurring urinary tract infections may need further examination.

PREGNANCY CAN CAUSE TIREDNESS

Tiredness or fatigue during pregnancy, notably during the early months is common. The causes can be related to hormonal changes. The new baby begins to demand more blood to carry nutrients to your growing baby. Your blood sugar levels and blood pressure are also lower.
